Continental Tyres BTS

Behind the scenes photo and video.

I was fortunate enough to work on an advert for Continental tyres. The filming took place in Teide National park in Tenerife. We were in the pine forest, a very tranquil place. My job was to take BTS photos and ‘making of’ video.

The start was as usual very early in the morning. On the hillside of Teide it was naturally very chilly. You had to keep moving to keep warm. That wasn’t a problem for me as I buzzed around everywhere capturing the crew preparing the cameras and car.

There were two actors, but the main talent was of course the tyres and the gorgeous car. The young girl had very blonde hair, As a result, I managed to take a really nice backlit shot as the sun peered low through the trees. By the afternoon, the sun was beating down on us in the woods. Subsequently, we went from chilly to boiling!

It never ceases to amaze me just how much preparation and work goes in to filming an advert. Time certainly keeps you on your toes as it waits for no man. The young girl was a little star. She took direction very well and in her stride as well, not a sign of nerves.

A lot of car adverts are filmed in Tenerife. The main factors being firstly, the landscape, truly breathtaking. Secondly the climate. It’s almost certain to but sunny but can have it’s moments when it doesn’t play fair. My good friend and colleague, Alek Pejovic of multicoptercanarias has filmed numerous adverts for car manufacturers. This time however, we were in amongst the trees, not a good flying space for drones.

I was quite pleased with the photo results. The Tenerife landscape always comes up with the best stage and lighting. A real pleasure to shoot photos and video there.
