Felices 140
Stills photography
This is my favourite stills photography shot whilst working on ‘Felices 140’ (Tornasol Films SA).
We had just finished a take in a small attic room. Therefore the crew was busy changing the set for the next scene. I had taken quite a few shots and was making up time reviewing them in a corner keeping out of the way. Meanwhile, Maribel Verdú was quietly sitting on a chair doing the same. She was looking down at the ground deep in thought, maybe thinking about the next scene. Time for another BTS shot.
Shooting stills on set is very enjoyable work. A lot of the time, the lighting is already sorted. As a result, there was natural light with the window on the left. The lighting on the right was from a softbox still on from the previous take. I framed Maribel as she was waited. I was wondering whether to take the BTS shot or not. At that moment, she snapped out of her thoughts, looked over her shoulder at me and gave a lovely little smile – click, perfect. I just love the Canon 70-200 IS lens. I would say a big part of stills photography is anticipating a moment.
